Schaeffer Budenberg Steam Engine Indicator Test Kit

An extremely fine schaeffer & budenberg steam engine indicator test kit, type 10973, manufactured by the american schaeffer & budenberg corporation, brooklyn, ny, usa. Hook this device onto the correct hole or port on your anitque steam engine, set it up with the right spring, fire the engine up, wind this up, and it will then draw you a picture of just how well she is running. That was the basic idea anyway, but as i have never seen one in use i am not sure if everything is here or not. It sure looks complete though.

Details include a 2 diameter x 6 main cylinder with maker's name, heavy knurled cylinder ends, heavy nickel-plated 3 long t-type hadnle with center tapered pillar-mounted center piston, with plate for weights (weights not present). Other details include a hand lever valve for attachment of steam gauge, complete with numerous adapters, accessories and tools all in a fitted oak case, unfortunately the original leather-covered carrying handle and hook-type hardware is missing, all other parts are in fine condition. The instrument is nickel-plated on brass.
